Engineering and Facilities Technician


Roles and Responsibilities



§ Perform job functions consistent to the corporate vision, mission statements and the core values of the company; ensure that subordinate performs their respective functions in like manner.


§ Ensure that departmental standards are in compliance with good manufacturing practices and ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and that departmental performance meets quality, cost and delivery standards.



§ Perform safety related functions such as use of personal protective equipment, safety equipment, maintain safe environment, and other procedures eliminating personal injury, equipment/component damage and environmental impact.

§ Maintain various tools and equipment to ensure safe operations and optimal efficiency.

§ Conduct daily work area inspection for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems and facilities.

§ Responsible to energize all ancillary before starts of production and conduct reading & recording all start-up parameters and utilities such (water/power).

§ Conduct daily inventory on fuel/nitrogen/acetylene usage before start of production and record on log sheet.

§ Participate on the daily production dialogue or tool box meeting with other departments and report issue or concern during their respective meeting.

§ Review and update daily all pending job order either related to corrective or preventive maintenance for equipment, ancillary, and measuring & test equipment.



§ Obtain a corrective/preventive maintenance job order request including the task to be done and the description of the problem/symptom from the process owner to be diagnosed or repaired.

§ Assess, inspect and document on job order the condition of the machine & record on machine breakdown history record.

§ Visually inspect for abnormalities, such as leaks, missing, loose parts, damaged component, burned fuse, shorted electrical connections, and damaged component.

§ Conduct lock-out, tag-out, and zero energy procedure whenever conducting a maintenance/trouble shooting on any equipment/ancillary.

§ Use test and evaluation procedure and specialized equipment according to result of inspection.

§ Perform sensory inspection either predetermined or not within schedule intervals to detect abnormalities such as change in pitch, rattling, crack, excessive noise, smelling on electrical wiring, controls, motor, shaft, bearing and seal.

§ Perform condition-based monitoring routine procedure to detect underlying defects not identified through sensory inspection.

§ Perform hands-on inspection like checking tolerances and clearances of equipment, ancillary and components using tools as hand tools, gauges and strobe lights.

§ Perform specialized testing and analysis on rotating & non- rotating equipment. These may include vibration analysis, balancing and alignment, thermal scanning, NDT, fluid analysis & etc.

§ Check for worn, defective, broken, or otherwise unacceptable components such as filters, sight glasses, packing seal, bearing and gasket.

§ Check condition, level, and temperature of fluids according to manufacturer’s recommendations.

§ Grease and lubricate components according to site, manufacturer’s and engineer’s specification. 

§ Inspect for prime mover components such as PLC, panel, controls, motor coupling, bearing, sheave, for defects including excessive wear, corrosion and looseness.

§ Adjust tension on components such as belts, chains, and tie rods.

§ Adjust spring tension on relay, gap between contacts and transformer outputs.

§ Fabricate/modify replacement components such as shade, guard, relay mounting and panel.

§ Remove and replace safety guards according to manufacturer’s and plant specifications.

§ Assess and detect damaged equipment/ancillary to determine next steps such as repair or replace.

§ Tag faulty or damaged equipment/ancillary from service to be repaired and report to supervisor.

§ Perform actual repair and maintenance of electro-mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic system of equipment/ancillary to ensure continuous manufacturing operations. Responsible in like manner to comply with Philippine Electrical Code, Bureau of Labor Safety Standards & other regulatory agencies.

§ Record parts or materials used and order new parts or materials as necessary. And include information about parts, materials or repair procedures.

§ Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components, sub assembly or any part of the machine.

§ Responsible for the completion of job order as assigned and record observation and maintenance results on breakdown history record/job order. Complete the documentation of all maintenance activities, breakdown and critical incident and collate/submit to superior for the later review/information/perusal.

§ Energize equipment/ancillary and perform tests to make sure that it is running smoothly.

§ Inform to immediate superior of spare parts requirements of the unit for a specific period and check spare parts against specifications prior to installation to avoid costly mistakes.

§ Perform electromechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic installation such as wiring, panel, switch, contactor, breaker, gear, gear box, solenoid valves and air cylinder, respectively.

§ Install and terminate single and three-phase AC systems including troubleshooting and replacement such as relay, contactor, transformer and socket.

§ Install, maintain, inspect, replace and repair/troubleshoot DC systems. 

§ Recognize damaged, worn, defective, hazardous component such as damaged insulation, socket, ballast, charger and battery.

§ Isolate fault to a component or part and interpret diagnostic data.

§ Install, repair, troubleshoot energized and non-energized low and high voltage power systems.

§ Responsible for the strict enforcement of safety and housekeeping rules, regulations and procedures to prevent accidents and eliminate losses due to such.

§ Perform preventive & predictive maintenance tasks to ensure functional & consistent performance of the machine/ancillary.

§ Conduct regular internal verification on Measuring and Test equipment in coordination with the Supervisor to ensure that the equipment are functioning in accordance to set parameters and standards.

§ Prepare the in-house verification report and submit to superior for review and approval.

§ Implement the quality system according to documented procedures and work instructions.

§ Assist the superior on the formulation of root causes analysis & corrective/preventive actions.

§ Responsible to implement the agreed corrective and preventive actions.

§ Ensure compliance of all work related activities in a fair, ethical, and consistent manner.

§ Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems;



§ Responsible to de-energize the ancillary after production and conduct reading/recording on the established parameters.

§ Ensure 5s and material segregation are implemented on their respective area. Responsible to write on the Waste Characterization and Endorsement Form.

§ Prepare the job order report (corrective/normal) and update the breakdown history record of the affected machine or ancillary; Submit it at the end of the shift to the process owner and supervisor for their approval.

§ Prepare the Preventive Maintenance job order report and update the PM plan and submit to the process owner and supervisor for approval.

§ Ensure all common hand/portable power tools, access equipment such as ladder, staging, scaffolding rigging/handling equipment such as belt, rope, cable & sling, hoisting, lifting, and chain block are properly clean, stored and accounted.


Qualifications and Education Requirements


§ At least graduate of industrial technological course and should be Licensed Master Electrician or with TESDA NC level IV.

§ At least graduate of industrial technological course and with TESDA NC level II.

Experience/ Expertise

At least three (3) to four (4) years of work related experience in a Industrial/Manufacturing set-up & have working knowledge on the following:


Electrical related:

ü Ability to read & interpret blueprints drawings and schematics including pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams.

o   Ability to recognize electrical symbols, abbreviations, & visualize 3 dimensional circuits.

ü Interpret service and operating manuals, specifications and technical bulletins.

ü Complies with electrical codes, standards and regulation.

o   Ability to interpret standards, codes & regulation.

ü Ability to select hand tools required for task to performed.

o   Puller, insulation tester, ammeter, tachometer, air blower, thermal scanner & etc. 

ü Ability to perform minor repairs such as sharpening, straightening and cleaning.

o   Ability to check mechanical measuring equipment for accuracy and calibration.

ü Electrical testing and diagnostic tools.

o   Ability to interpret readings and fault codes

ü Programmable logic circuits (PLC)

o   Ability to operate & detect the state of all input devices that are connected to PLC.

o   Execute user created program logic

o   Energize or de-energize all output devices connected to PLC.

ü Able to program and troubleshoot HMIs & servo drives.

ü Ability to recognize hazards and defective equipment.

ü Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, cooling, exhaust system and pump, fan & motor, conveyor, pneumatic, hydraulic controls and Variable frequency drives

ü Proficient working with computerized machinery, complex electrical circuits, large panels, computers and sensors.

ü  Able to comply with PPE requirements and uses proper lifting techniques.

ü Tools of the trade

ü Boiler, generator set, air compressor, chiller, cooling tower, pumps, manual transfer switch operations.

§ Knows how to use precision measuring tools & test equipment such as tachometer, vibration analyzer, hydraulic gauge, & etc.

This position requires the ability to:

Climb up, down stairs. Climb vertical ladders up to 17 ft or more. Work from scaffolding and elevated platforms. The work usually requires standing, kneeling, and lifting.
