The position is responsible for maintaining smooth and efficient operation of the Housekeeping Department; sees to it that service in these sections are carried out in accordance with prescribed standards and housekeeping policies.
Responsibilities:
• Provides a professional, advisory and executive support service to the General Manager to assist in meeting the strategic goals of the establishment.
• Participates in the preparation of the Strategic Business and Operating Plans.
• Implements strategies aimed at cost minimization, productivity maximization without reduction of Quality Standards.
• Prepares monthly outlook/forecast reports.
• Completes and updates Standards and Procedures for the Housekeeping Department annually or as needed
• Monitors and reviews Quality Standards for the Department.
• Institutes suitable processes to allow for the efficient and effective utilization for department resources.
• Implements acceptable procedures to allow for the introduction of managed change within the department.
• Determines the operational requirements i.e. equipment and supplies of his/her department and coordinates with Purchasing Department for the procurement of said items as required within budget and desired outlook.
• Reports maintenance faults and damage to furniture and fittings in all areas of the hotel to the maintenance department.
• Attends promptly to all guest complaints and requests.
• Prepares and submits reports regarding losses of housekeeping items as well as other pertinent information as required by the management; prepares and submits accomplishment report as needed.
• Ensures preparation of cleaning schedule for the return of all out of order rooms.
• Ensures completion of par stocks.
• Oversees the inspection of VIP and/or Vacant Clean rooms but not limited to the inspection of public areas and guest hallways.
• Ensures that all associates comply with the grooming and uniform standards.
• Implements and maintains training systems to ensure that associates have the necessary framework and skills to perform their job efficiently and effectively.
• Approves work schedules and annual leave schedules within budget, business expectations and guidelines of the appropriate industrial legislation.
• Prepares CAPEX list.
• Oversees the selection and appointment of new associates within the department.
• Participates in the Hotel “Manager on Duty” program.
• Inculcates and trains team members on Standard Operating Procedures, Service Excellence and Teamwork. Actively promotes a work environment, which cares for guests and associates alike.
• Controls service and labor cost to keep operational expenses to the minimum.
• Conducts development and performance reviews, identifying key personnel for further development following a structured career path.
• Conducts regular meetings with the staff.
• Keeps immediate superior fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance without delay.
• Exhibits and maintains a positive and involved team attitude to all and promotes positive relations through an environment that encourages open communication, trust and mutual respect.
• Performs all assigned duties efficiently and, technically correct;, follows Company policies, rules and regulations, requests of Superiors;, adheres to procedures to achieve a high standard leading to total guest and Company satisfaction.
• Complies with all Corporate and Hotel Standards and Procedures.
• Updates oneself and follow security/fire/safety procedures according to Company’s rules and regulations. Ensures that all employees have a complete understanding of and adhere to the hotel policies relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
• Attends divisional/departmental meeting and training when requested. Conducts regular staff meetings to keep all associates informed.
• Performs other duties that may be assigned by immediate superiors from time to time
EDUCATION:
• A bachelor degree of any course preferably Hotel Management
